Phillip Zimbardo is no crackpot psychologist like that of Cooper Lawrence. With that being said however, I think Zimbardo is mistaken slightly and the story isn't done justice by our "wonderful" American media. While video games may cause a problem for a TINY minority of males, the problems created by them are over-emphasized. As a Psychologist, Zimbardo isn't trained to look for system problems related to the international economy. If you look at Gen Y and Late Gen X as a w...

How about the entire Bill of Rights? While Bush started to sell these at firesale prices to whatever MIC contractor or bank wanted them, Obama has put it on a reverse auction. Anyone see the police crackdown of the Occupy Movement? If folks in the gaming community were as "intelligent" as they say they were versus the rest of the American Public, they would back Ron Paul more so rather than the sell out Barack Obama. Obama was a start up who got bought off, Lobbyist don't even b...

Meh, me thinks that the Supreme Court will side with the video game industry. I remember Adam Sessler recalling that Justice Scalia (read one of the most conservative judges on the court) was tearing into this law that California had during oral arguments. With Sotomayor (an Obama appointee) bringing up the point about Bugs Bunny, this law wont stand on the grounds that it is too vague. 7-2 against the law.

On a much broader note, these kinds of things are what you get when ...

He already bailed out GM and promotes certain industries, what makes you think he wills top that? After all, Video Games aren't controlled by the same corporate cabal that controls the film and tv industry that keeps the American People as Sheeple.

Don't know why gamers would vote for him again, as this guy is one of the most openly anti-video game presidents we've had. Granted games have just now come into mainstream, but it seems like the government is subtly trying to influence the conversation to their liking. I do both Mr. President, my current book? FDR's Folly by Jim Powell. Since you think you are the 2nd coming of FDR with all the stimulus (read money printing) and regulation, might as well find out what makes you t...

Given that Ron Paul is going to evict Obama next year, Obama will have plenty of time to play this wonderful game.

Right.... If by "unique optimizations" they mean mouse and keyboard support, no lean, IWNET, then no thanks. Robert Bowling is an idiot talking piece for IW. I bought MW2 and got hosed assuming they would listen to their fanbase and correct the problems. Not so.... With BF 3 around the corner, this is a pass. I don't speak for all PC gamers, but a lot of us remember the rip off of MW2 and will be either skipping it all together or torrents.

Smoke and mirrors in my judgment. Focusing on PC gaming would require a lot of changes that would not be consistent with their vision of gaming that they want. A few games every now and then, but Microsoft made it's decision with gaming when it launched the xbox.

The PC gaming community, despite some misgivings about it, will eventually rally around Steam. The question is, does Microsoft want to cede ground to Valve or do they think they can change the attitude of PC gam...

That's true. How often are titles that are on a Nintendo System or Nintendo exclusive considered or possibly even winning GOTY. Very seldom IMO do you hear about innovation from the software side of Nintendo in recent years. Yes there are improvements to their first party titles or changes, but nothing that causes the industry to take note.

If it will, it will be 6 months to a year later after they have milked Gears 3 for all it can get. Probably will wreak of being a Console Port as well. Cliffy B hypes his games way too much and I still haven't forgotten about him saying PC gamers where "whining" they didn't get a Demo for Bulletstorm, when all other systems were getting one and wouldn't have taken too much effort to put one out. Oh and implying that those who can install graphics cards pirate doesn't...

Yeah, part of that is because we live in an entitlement culture and gaming reflects the attitudes of people. If only Americans would realize they aren't as smart as they think they are, we might could see some progress in gaming (at least from an art and design perspective). Before anyone flames me as being some sort of crazy American hating foreigner, I am an American myself.

The focus needs to be on the core gamers. They are the ones that buy games on a routine basis, so most of the focus needs to go to them. The problem with the Wii wasn't that it didn't have good titles, but rather they didn't have enough of them. If Nintendo needs to have 2 to 3 games for the casual and non gaming crowd a year, fine. They only buy 1 to 2 games a year anyways. Nintendo has a good idea to look at the industry in a much longer segment of time than other companies, but...

As a Steam user and primarily a PC gamer, I haven't been that drastically affected by the outage (although I would like to play MK online to see if I am a decent player or if I suck beyond all measure of correction). My answer to this is maybe? Obviously the folks who just play for free, I don't think they should be reimbursed. As far as folks who play for PS Plus or any sort of MMO like DC:U, their days should be credited as not used or something.

I don't think ...

I do think this strategy for Sony is a mistake. Even if Geohot was tried and convicted on whatever charges brought against him, it would only make him a martyr for the cause IMO. A lot of folks in these circles view the courts as protection for corporatist factions and care nothing for the rights of individuals, private property, etc. I'd argue that the erosion of individual liberties and property rights is happening elsewhere in American Society, and that this is just another example wit...

It depends if they truly want to make it a sit in or just plan a protest. I'm not a lawyer, but trespassing, loitering, disorderly conduct could be placed against the protesters. With the huge backlog of cases, these people will more than likely be charged with disorderly conduct ( if folks are 1st time offenders, this is little more than a fine and a slap on the wrist).

Some cities have ordinances against folks wearing masks so they could be charged with violating a cit...

Retail is almost completely dead PC wise (only reason why I shop retail PC is because my apartment complex has me locked into their ISP and downloading 1 gig + files takes hours on end.). Console wise, retail will become extinct, just other factors will determine when.

People say retail won't die, but content delivery has always changed and evolved. No one thought Blockbuster in the 90's would be in the position it is in today. Couple a business model with unpopular ite...

1. Brazil projects it's ruling militarily
2. US agrees with the ruling and projects the ruling militarily
3. China agrees with the ruling and stops buying US treasury bonds until the US agrees with the ruling.

None of these will likely happen. The only thing Brazil can do to get this ruling to go international is to appeal to treaties or moral negotiating. Even then, the chances are very slim.

Toolsets are more than likely being reworked and improved upon (having them totally removed was my biggest fear). I was worried that Bioware was going to pull an IW.

As far as the camera is concerned, I think they are modifying it with the intent of keeping tactical control as their chief...

Activision or Ubisoft....which is worse? Both seem to be racing toward the bottom in terms of quality and Ubisoft's DRM is outright horrible, so that's why I am on a boycott of both (with the execption of Blizzard games). It's been almost a year since I purchased anything from either of these companies, so it has been holding steady.
