Are gamers really this clueless about development and the platforms themselves? Does it really matter which console is better, are people so silly to need or have to believe that their 'console' is better in every way than all others? If this was true, people would be using only a PC with a controller and skipping consoles which cannot come close to the processing or graphical abilities.
Hardware wise, it works like this:
PS3 superior CPU, XBox superior GPU
The problem is BluRay is already outdated.
1) Digital downloads
2) Flash prices
For #1 why buy media, when your content can be accessible on your HD or streamed from the Internet.
For #2 this is the MOST important as Flash and CHEAP Flash SSD/USB devices that are the size of BluRay's limitations are becoming as cheap of a medium as BluRay Media.
This means that Flash devices will become the new format for gaming in the next ...
I see a lot of people dismiss the article because of the comments about graphics.
Here are somethings to think about:
XBox 360
1) GPU is a unified shader - Generation ahead of PS3 Geforce GPU
2) Supports MOST DX10 and DX11 features
3) Display Driver Model is a precursor to WDDM and allows OS to share and virtualize GPU and System RAM (Like Win7)
What does all of this mean technically?
1) Unified shader is easier to c...
The Original XBox is running a variation of Windows 2000.
The XBox 360 is running a fork build between Windows Server 2003 and Vista and uses a variant of DirectX.
The DirectX features and Video model of the XBox 360 are where the WDDM of Vista/Win7 come from and DX10 and DX11, as the DX11 features on the PC are just catching up to some of the DirectX features of the XBox 360.
There is a theme to most posts that don't take into account the reasoning behind the original XBox or the 360.
Here is some facts to think about.
Why Did Microsoft Make the Original XBox?
At the time that MS decided to create the original XBox, console gaming development was 1) Hard and 2) Locked to a console technology.
The original XBox was built to create a more consistent model of programming for a console that would also allow eas...
"IF A BLU-RAY MOVIE CAN TAKE UP 25GB AND IT'S ONLY A 2-4 HOUR EXPERIENCE WITH EXTRAS HOW CAN GAMES AVERAGING 6 - 10 HOURS EASILY ALWAYS FIT ON 8GB?"
You do realize that prior to BluRay and HD-DVD there were HD movies released on DVDs using WMV/VC1 compression. There was plenty of room for the movie. (T2 Extreme edition as I look at my shelf is just one example from over 10 years ago.)
Go to any torrent site and find HD quality video with moderate comp...
