This is pure opinion. I own both systems as well and both online experiences are the same. I stopped paying for Xbox Live because the price is not justified and Microsoft is doing very little to make Xbox Live better for gamers.
I don't have problems playing games with my friends on the PS3. I don't have a problem keeping in contact with them either.
