I feel like MS kinda already knew they were going to kick things up a notch. Maybe that $500 price tag is worth it. I'm interested to see what else we are going to find out about. Sony has been pretty transparent about their console and MS seems to have all these tricks up their sleeve. I would like to know just how much or little of a difference in ability the two consoles will have once they launch.
I think your math it's missing several factors such as R&D and production cost. Agreed, the console generation hasn't even begun for us consumers yet. My hopes aren't dashed. I can still see titles running natively at 1080 some point down the road.
Sony plus broadband partnerships equal omgwtfawesome. That's exciting and I'm not even over in Europe to really benefit from that. Great conference or was much more relaxed and had some good stuff in there too.

Eh, though i do agree the memory cards are a tad bit expensive you only really need a 32 at most considering you can always dump off the games your arent playing and redownload them as need be, i was frustrated with my 8gb but the upgrade was well worth the money and hey once the money is spent and you are happy dontcha just move on anyways?
That was the most fun I had playing a mmo in a very long time. Let alone the beta even with the 3102 issue. I Ann never big on subscriptions for games but after one weekend with xiv I'm definitely sold that it's worth it

Graphics are nice, game seems fluid enough it's just missing something for me. I'm not excited for it, like at all even. Why? Looks like a game I'd end up returning a month after buying it. Nothing I've seen has blown me away yet. And I think that means a lot coming into a new console generation.
As a fan I really happen to think that this is overkill. Don't get me wrong I love street fighter but constant updates and new editions of the same game really drives new players away and definitely makes the market smaller and honestly more competitive and not necessarily in a good way. Sony in general seems to be pretty happy with their master plan for the ps4 and honestly if you were in charge of making sure your product was successful you would probably not necessarily take pride in taking a few jabs at the competition but take pride in reassuring your customers and potential customers that you are ready and willing and have been doing something right by them.
quite simply it is too early to expect devs to be pushing boundaries that are are significantly noticable or comparable to other games on other systems( save for the wii u of course). The games that use ALL of that better ram you say, idk why don't you poke around and see what games pushed hardware to the max efficiently right away at any console launch.

I would have to say no not like on the pc since the dawn of time. The problem with pc gaming lies in the variety of hardware setups and definitely with some(read: most or a lot) of people simply cannot afford a high end gaming machine, let alone keep up with upgrading it every so often to stay competitive.
