Depends on where you’re from, has a creative director standpoint probably not. But a gamers standpoint you simply can’t judge a company on a alright game. Every company has its ups and downs the difference is how do they bounce back.
I would think so simply because you are trying to cater to a newer demographic group of people yet staying true to those who have lived to play said classics. Remakes can be worth it if done right.
In all honesty it may have hurt a bit because the PS fans had nothing to watch. But if Sony was to discontinue Playstation and pull out of the console entertainment Industry, they would solely be replaced just like sega was in the past. It would just be a thing of the past. Not saying I would want to see that because competition breeds improvement.

@Ultranova. Sony never believed in its cloud computing that’s probably why Microsoft boasts about it more than sony. On the other hand Microsoft has always had the better online than Sony as well just a few years back Sony decided to charge people for their online services to compete with Microsoft and now Nintendo does the same thing, knowing there is money to be made off of said service which by now has helped stabilize Sony’s online ecosystem, same goes for Nintendo which will improve over...
