Are you referring to the actual paid game or the trial? Because there is an issue with the trial where the games fill up very quickly resulting in "Game Lobby Full" message, but I am yet to get that message once from the paid version.
I also found it hard to find a game in the trial, this is NOT an issue in the actual game. Once I purchased the game, the match-making worked much better. So I believe this issue is only isolated to the trial.

Hell if it gives me 30 minutes of decent entertainment I'd be satisfied, that's a hell of a lot more than what most $60.00 games do for me now a days.
I think the game will do fairly well if the core mechanics are alright. Everyone loved COD for the simplicity, and it doesn't get much more simple than this.

I pretty much agree. I'm not sure why people like the Resident Evil movies. I tend to question their true intent on being Resident Evil fans.
It's like people don't realize Resident Evil was originally a survival horror game turned Action/Suspense. I liked Resident Evil as a survival horror and not an Action/Suspense, so I'd prefer the movie adaption be more of a horror.

Why should sniping be difficult? You have a big scope that has tremendous amount of zoom with a nice corsair that fills up the entire screen vs someone with iron sights at a very long distance...

2. Keep profits up from PS2

That is not opinion nor fact, not all FPS creators want a futuristic shooter with arcadey controls. The best FPS gameplay however is an opinion and I'm sure thousands will agree with that.
Gameplay depends on my mood of which I prefer. Sometimes I'm in the mood for COD, other times I'm in the mood for Halo or Resistance.

While the story itself may or may not be generic, the gameplay is. And as some has stated, it's only due to the over-saturation of the FPS genre.

It's boring for more reasons than just a "Wow" factor. The guns are also boring, and sniping is so rare that there is no versatility with the gunplay. To me, pretty much all the guns felt the same. SMG's are suppose to be CQC yet they have the same accuracy at mid-long range as assault rifles.
It's horrible someone with an AK74U can out shoot a sniper in this game at very long range. The maps are another issue, they're just not very memorable other t...
I don't think they were ever above $600.00? Unless you got one from Ebay during launch that was going higher than retail. And they were priced that high because they were expensive to make. They lost money on the launch SKU's, so they gained no profit and took a loss.

It's just not my bag of chips to spend that much money on one game. To each their own, but to me it's still just a game, and spending that much on a game that I may get to play 1-2 hours a day if I'm lucky, I just can't justify that price.
I could buy a cheap car for that and actually not need a driving simulator lol. To those higher up in the financial food chain I could see paying, but when you have a family to support it's kind of hard especially for me...
Resistance 1 was definitely better than R2. I liked KZ2's SP but not so much of the MP. I like both, but for the most part I prefer KZ's SP and Resistance MP.
I just had so much fun with KZ2's hit response system, so realistic and so satisfying. On the other hand, Resistance 1 kept me busy for a year on the MP, hunting down humans as Chimera with their rage just made me feel like Predator on steroids.

No respawn is only on certain modes, TDM is your typical spawning system where you spawn about 5 seconds after death so long as there's a "safe spot".
And just because they only have a pistol does not mean they are new by any means, some people try to save up money for the more powerful guns, and some just recently spent money on a powerful gun to lose the money and can only afford a pistol.
