There is a FREE option for Xbox live too. Its called SILVER. No one is forcing you to buy the Gold service. Sounds like Sony is just playing catch up with xbox live and adding a few new features. Token redemption sounds an awful lot like those "premium" games that charge you to buy stuff in game like aeria games.

Was as good as Sony is saying it is, then why the need for all the updates and bug fixes? the PS3 is not a computer for goodness sakes. (in the traditional sense of the word) its a GAME machine.
The 360 is hardly considered a flop.
Would Sony get rid of online play for the ps3. They have too much invested in the infrastructure of the Playstation Network to lose online gaming.
Is the CORE service will remain free- all the other addons will COST money. IE- PREMIUM!
