Honestly i think the constrained supply is a stradegy by Nintendo. Because it's so hard to get, more and more people are eager to get it...at least that was how I felt.
Either way, 6 million units (Worldwide) and 1.5 milion units (Japan) sold in less than 6 MONTHS is very impressive considering how much Nintendo's has struggled in sales from 2011-2016...

There are two possible reasons that this has been delayed.
1) Zelda: BOTW has redefined openworld. Rockstar probably wants to improve/tweak their open world based on what BOTW has done.
2) Scorpio and ps4 pro (ALONG WITH BASE PS4 AND XBOX ONE) leads to slightly more development time

ps5 will release in the fall of 2020.I think that is the most obvious date, since ps4 pro came out 6 months ago.
