The 360 can be modded easily. You can even do it yourself. Google is your friend. And some back-up games can even play online. Stealthed mods lets you play backup/pirated games without XBL detecting it, thus you can go online using original games.
360 is tightest of them all ?

If you don't like paying for this DLC, then it's ok, it won't hurt or make the game incomplete. If you have the money and a fan of those said games, then buy it. You will feel good about it, and that's worth every penny spent.
