because if it is then i can't wait to own one. I have been holding off buying one due to money troubles, but i just started to save some cash and was freakin' out because more and more stores are pulling the 80gb sku, the one i was planning on purchasing. I was hoping they would release a 120+gb with ds3, and it looks like they might do just that(i think i'll be happy with a 160gb sku). while it sucks that i have been deprived of playing ps3 for the past 1 and half years, i can't wait for ...

Just to let you know you that it wasn't a scratch on the disc that made people turn there playstation 1 on its side or upside down. It was the track that the optic lens was on, it would wear down on one side due to the back and forth movement of the laser reading the information on the disc. By rotating the playstation you changed the which side the laser moved on the track due to gravity but that only occured in the earlier models.

40gb doesn't have the ps2 emotion chip in it, 80gb does. To me they just split the mothers board in half during manufacturing, to the left goes the 40gb, and the right goes the 80gb where they put the emotion chip in.

i believe it is a bit more complicated that just adding BC in the 40bg and sell it for $100 less
yes they are planning on dropping all ps3 support and manufacture the ps4, while still supporting the ps2./end sarcasim. get a clue and use some common sense, from what i have read all over the internet is that MS would be the one who ditches the 360 and focus on their new console, in a year or two. Sony plan, and they made this quite clear, is that the ps3 will be their focus for almost a decade.
I have been waiting to buy a PS3 for sometime, unemployment and standard living costs have prevented me from purchasing one. I only hope is that they continue to sell the 80gb sku, because that was the one i was planning on purchasing. Also i hope sony will make an announcement about these rumors, because i don't want to rush out and buy one if another is coming out with slightly larger HDD and rumble for about the same price or even less.

no one bought it so they figure to peddle it on to the gullible wii consumers. I know it got reviews but no one bought it for good reason, there was no appeal to anyone other than japan.
think that Sony can cut there system also. i don't know if you missed the article about how the production of the PS3 has been cut in half. so i wouldn't be surprised if ms did a price cut of the 360, then Sony will do the same, oh you'll have to do a better price of 20-50 in order to have me invest in an Xbox.
P.S. i don't own either, due to financial reason i have been unable to afford either Xbox or ps3, but when i do get the money i will buy a ps3 because i like what Sony...
i want to know what you guys did to your Playstations, perhaps a bad batch because i own both orignal models of PS1 and PS2 and they work just fine. Perhaps the lens is dusty but nothing a cleaning disc can't handle.

Final Fantasy has been the benchmark off all RPG's since FFIII so don't tell me that if you like RPG your not going to like FFXIII because that is dumb.

i think you guys are missing the point of comparisons. they are supposed to be at the highest level on both systesm that way you can compare how one is a lot better than the other, by dumbing down one system so they are equal doesn't make sense. i want them to compare and show me which game from the two systems is better so when i buy it i am getting the better of the two.
understand why people want Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy to end. but you seem content with all the crap mario games that come out more frequently then a pokemon rip off, i mean all the game which are attached to mario not the new platform or brawl, which isn't just mario. Face the facts MGS is not and overhyped series, it has done nothing but get better and better with each installment, while they may seem crappy because of a few issues but the story line for each game are compelling....
