What an interesting concept. Ok because I did some research on the matter:
a)there IS as a matter of fact a way to "bypass the lag".I have a save of roughly 11mb and the game starts lagging after around 4.5 hours of continuous gameplay. On the first hick up it has save quit the game from the xmb and reenter. Voila another 4.5 hours of continuous lag free play. It works like a charm for me so it should work for you.
b)The active effects not showing up is a well known glitch across all 3 platforms...
Well at least you will be able to brag about the huge library of games you have...even if you are cursed to never experience their joys...ever...all alone with games that don't even want you...
