Xbox Live is a huge contribution though, even if it's the only one you consider they have made you have to admit it's worth it.

Sony has designed a machine to take advantage of the brute force performance of powerful components (especially the Ram), and that has been great for the industry, just like Microsoft and their approach.

Each company brings something different, using a different approach and it's great. I don't think you can call any ...

You're probably right, people see the price point and look at headlines like this I can't see how the two match up.

Personally I think though it depends on what you consider value for money. Basically whether you think Kinetic is worth it and whether you feel you will benefit with the amount of money Microsoft has invested into their online network. (Though live gold will make some of that, if you don't use live gold you still benefit with the smooth updates etc)....

Of course the majority of the industry is made up of casual gamers that will never care about the differences in the consoles at a frame rate/resolution level and that is absolutely great. It's the fans on these dedicated websites that make me sad (not all of them but the fanboys that just seem to be desperate for anything they can use to attack the other side, and will just make stuff up to do so).

Also, Microsoft is not the wart on this industry, far from it. They contr...

I've been playing games most of my life and I've been working in the industry as a programmer now for nearing 8 years and what is happening right now makes me so sad. It seems the only thing people care about (on this site at least) is the number of pixels on the screen and not what those pixels show.

This isn't about the games anymore and I hope that this trend doesn't continue as it could have a bad effect on the industry as a whole, an industry that I love....

Good point. I don't know how the hardware resources are split across the game systems in either game (obviously), I was more going on texture resolution and dynamic effects like the vegetation/hair, I haven't thought about NPC numbers.

To me Tomb Raider looks a lot better visually in screenshots but I suppose games are a lot more than static images.

Even though at first the title makes it out that this is a bad thing for xbox I personally see this as a good thing for the xbox. If a game such as this can get to 1080p/30fps then the likes of Call of Duty: Ghost can easily do 1080p/60fps, and the reason it isn't, isn't because the xbox can't do it (like some people tried to claim, at least as some form of victory) but because of launch window/time constraints/tools/drivers etc.

The games will get much better as ...
