I'm looking forward to the cross-control feature, but I wish it worked with all games. Even if there's no special Vita functionality, just let me use it.
I notice they're going with the USB dongle on that... This is getting annoying with 3rd party PS3 peripherals. First it was Logitech, then Rockband guitars, now this.
I thought the PS3 was supposed to use standard Bluetooth. Why aren't peripherals tapping into that?
Its crazy to think that PS3 actually outsold Xbox360 in 2007. And that was with a general consensus that 360 had the better library. 2008 is going to be fun to watch, even though I own both consoles.
As for PSN, a committed developer can use the existing tools to create an experience equivalent to Xbox Live on PS3, but from what I hear the friend's list is costly to memory. The TimeShift demo lets you bring up your XMB Friend's list from the pause menu. This is OK, but Sony r...
Ring the bell folks, Bang Camaro just ended the Great System War.
Give EA a break.
They were put in the position of porting another company's Direct3D/Intel (which always ran best on ATI) engine to PS3 (OpenGL/Cell+Nvidia) presumably with minimal help from the people that actually wrote the code (see: Gabe Newell's anti-PS3 rants).
If it wasn't for EA, PS3 owners wouldn't have this game at all. And by most hands-on accounts, its not nearly as bad as this review suggests.
Funny you mention the HD format war. The Round Peg is a regular HD-DVD booster on the HighDefDigest forums.
Reisinger is basically arguing that Xbox360 will finish this generation in the lead. I'm sorry, but that is impossible worldwide. In Japan and many parts of Europe, Xbox360 simply has no traction.
He also argues that 360 will remain in the lead because of software. Again, this is unlikely. Microsoft's first party publishing is miniscule compared to Sony Computer Entertainment. In fact, SCE worldwide is a larger publisher than MGS and Nintendo COMBINED. Third party exclu...
Blech.
Why are format war people so obsessed with this garbage film? I'm a Blu-Ray supporter, and I couldn't care less about this Michael Bay trash.
I'm far more jealous of City of Men or the Bourne series. If I saw Transformers Blu-Ray on the shelf, I wouldn't even consider it.
Depends if trailing means "not #1" or "last place". There's no question PS3 is going to outpace Xbox360 worldwide. 360 is a nonstarter in Japan and most of Europe.
Next year is going to be a big test for PS3 in the US. SCE is a MASSIVE publisher, and a lot of people don't realize it. They are bigger than MGS and Nintendo combined. 2008 is going to see them really stretching their legs on the PS3 with a lot of exclusive releases. We already know about...
They could start by releasing the PSP Earthworm Jim game that was lost when Shiny went to Foundation9. It looked like that game was pretty far along.
Hell, why not put it out on Wii, PSN, XBLA, PS2 while you're at it!
And yeah, a new MDK would be welcomed with open arms... from me anyway :)
No lawsuit is going to gain any kind of traction. The existing players will always play Blu-Ray movies even if they don't support all the advanced interactivity features.
It was the same situation with DVD. Most early players didn't support progressive scan (480p). Now, you can buy a progressive DVD player for $40.
The early adopters (and this is an early adopter market, $99 players notwithstanding) are primarily concerned with having HD-quality movies, and th...
This is one of my all-time favorite games. I hope they add enough new content to warrant a re-purchase as I already bought this on Xbox360. Since I buy most of my games on PS3, the collector in me would like have Bioshock on the shelf in a Clear case rather than Lime Green.
Anyway, if you only have a PS3, this should be great news. Bioshock is worth every paragraph of praise heaped on it and more.
Did I read it wrong, or is their blatant fanboy sentiments in the summary?
I found this line funny:
"the game is 6.74 GB – well within the constraints of a dual layer DVD-9."
Yes, well within DVD9, however Xbox360 DVDs are limited to 7GB with the file structure and security features. Mass Effect is pushing the DVD to its limit.
This is something people on the "DVD is enough" side don't understand: no game is going to have obviously geometry missing. But look at Gears of War. The PC release has 5 a...
Pretty cool idea. I've been looking for a way to use my Verizon 4G and dorm connection for a while. Looks like it speeds up multiple downloads a lot.
