What I was meaning was that I understand the direction of the game. Having a heavily narrative focused game that limits mainstream gameplay mechanics to it's absolute minimum in order to push the story. That's fine. I get that. However, the pace of which it's told was just dreadfully slow. I couldn't help but feel the slow movement was an attempt to make the game appear longer than it is.
The story itself, you're right, I didn't finish. I just couldn...
No one cares because my opinion varies from yours or the majority? I guess I should only make a comment so long as it's in line with what everyone else is saying. Makes sense. It's that kind of logic that serves as a reason as to why we can't get any good dialog going anymore. What a shame.
It's not even worth writing about. Terrible experience that truly stretches the definition of the word 'game'.
For the record, I loved Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs and valued it's focus on story and how it was told. I don't expect high octane shooting, gore, or anything of that nature. I expected a narrative driven piece that is intriguing and enjoyable to play. This truly tested my patience and I simply couldn't bring myself to play it anymore beyond t...
@inmyopinion You want seriousness in a Metal Gear Solid game? You've come to the wrong place.
It's a bloody videogame. Nut up people. Jesus Christ.
It's my birthday today too! Can't wait to get off work and play some 'V'. :)
If he can make the events of MGS2 make sense, and wrap up a 20+ year saga in MGS4, then the man deserves an award.
MIND BLOWN! Can a seemingly random codec conversation from a game released 11 years ago hold the key to what's going on in MGS V?
"we’re advancing through trial and errors as far as the battle system goes"
That translates to me as:
"We have no idea what the !@#$ we're doing."
Wonder if the 'true ending' shows an epilogue of sorts. Perhaps a playable section of a remastered Metal Gear 1 feat. Solid Snake?
Ok? I prefer Max Payne over Gran Turismo. Do I get an article?
I'm English too, and this game sucks a dick.
Oddly enough I was playing the Tenchu series last night. That franchise DESPERATELY needs a reboot. Ninjas are so cool.
This is what happens when you have a creative director at the helm who insists on quality. Great job Kojima-san!
GROW HOME.
Tomb Raider, alongside Super Mario 64, defined the way we handle 3D adventure games to this day. Tomb Raider doesn't get nowhere near the recognition it deserves. It was also one of the first games to feature a strong female lead (yes, she was always a badass) if not a little sexualized, but hey - it was the 90's.
The level design in the early Tomb Raider games was incredible, and some of the most imaginative and creative in the genre. What they were able to achieve w...
Laura? I'm sorry, but this is just a pet peeve of mine, ha. There's been, what, over 10 games in the series, and people still continue to misspell her name? It's petty, I know - but urgh. :P
@OtakuDJK1NG
Clearly you didn't read my post entirely. I'm VERY familiar with the series history and have been playing them since 1996. Of course Tomb Raider came before Uncharted. All I was alluding to was the fact that at time of Uncharted's release, people often claimed it was a Tomb Raider clone, when in fact the newer TR game was more like Uncharted than Uncharted was Tomb Raider. Make sense?
There was nothing 'survival' or 'hunti...
Not really. I just don't like the new direction this series has gone. That's all.
The first game was a cinematic set piece showcase. The second game looks like a brutal stealth game. Who knows? Maybe the third game will be an actual Tomb Raider game.
I guess you could say that I miss the puzzles, the platforming that doesn't hold your hand, the unobtrusive HUD, the creative, inspired, and well implemented level design, and a hundred other things t...
@GribbleGrunger
Well, I don't particularly like the term 'walking simulator' either, but let's face it - that's what it is. You have a different name for the 'genre', if you can call it that, but you can call it whatever you want. It doesn't excuse the fact you do nothing but walk around (and I use that term LOOSELY judging by how slow you move) and let the story unfold itself to you. For all intents and purposes, it IS a walking simulator. Eve...
