This blight on PC gaming was from 2007.
Steam, ( and other services like Direct2drive and gamersgate) were doing fine without MS trying to shoehorn into the market and charge for things that are free everywhere else.

You can tell this was a complete on-rails kinect game before they switched it.I suppose enemies just lunged at you and you had to some arm flailing motion to trigger the QTE attack.Then into the Phalanx, where you would mimick a spear throwing motion lol.
