Do they "NEED' EA? No. Wii U Needs great 1st party titles.
Infamous will only have 10 pages, GTA IV had 20. They are adding the PS4 features along with other games such as killzome,driveclub,etc an interview and a look at the PS4 to make it 30 pages.

If they didn't have anything to show then they wouldn't be having multiple events, have rented out the Nokia theatre(which isn't cheap) and have multiple nintendo directs throughout the week.
New engine...old engine it doesn't matter to me. Its gonna take alot more than good graphics to get me interested in the game. Especially a series that has yearly releases and has been extremely stagnant and stale.
and with all the other good games coming out at that time the chances of me getting it is very very slim.

Nintendo is showing the wii u at E3. Future Wii U games are going to be their main focus there according to Iwata.
and they still have the Nokia Theatre rented out..Just gonna be a smaller Live audience so they can focus on them separately instead of having media and business partners there together.
well smash bros will also come on 3DS so I dunno know.
Pretty much every 3D mario game beside for Sunshine sold 10 mil. So there is a demand. Even the Super mario 64 remakes on DS and 3DS sold 10 mil which is insane.
I think Mario Kart will be more of a system seller tho but they will sell close most likely

First of all they aren't skipping E3..and neither have they fallen from their grace...The Wii U is just having a rough start just like the 3DS did and is now completly owning the hardware sales...especially handheld.....Reading the article and some comments is just comical and sad at the same time tbh

Ah so thats why Mario 3D land has sold more than Mario Kart 3DS and have both (along with the price drop) propelled the 3DS to sucess.

Thats what they say about everything that isn't doing great in its first 6 month+ or so....PS3,3DS,Vita, and now Wii U.so really the last 4 pieces of hardware released were all doomed to fail.
Another difference is that the wii u has a future of block buster games on its way.
to say that 3D Mario and Mario Kart coming this year will not spur any sales is just ignorance...
Also get your facts right, Wind waker sold more than majora's mask as well and is the 6th best selling zelda ever. so really the only remake they could have done in which the original sold more and that would make sense was twilight princess but that just came out in 06.
