I gotta agree, I expected it to lead to piracy, which is a shame as people like myself use homebrew for other things.
I do hope Sony fix this exploit at least, I know patching the whole thing would be pretty hard to do as there are Devs working all the time ready to exploit the PS3
@zeksta I hope they do sort it out soon, this is one of the things (along with piracy) that I didn't like about CFW
The reason I believe it is this is Sony may not be aware of how to fix the issue or have only just found out about this.
This exploit allows access to the Devs network hence already used names being able to be used (unless you protect yourself)

This method is pretty old but does work.
The people who have reported it obviously don't know about the LAN capabilities of the PS3, myself and quite a few of a forum members used this method to play against other legit players when the MW2 PS3 hacks were released
Just goes to show not all homebrew is about piracy :)

@DrStabwounds I gotta agree with you, hopefully if this gets approved and more people see it they will be aware about media streaming, it's amazing how few people know about things that seem common knowledge to myself, not that I'm some kind of PS3 guru :p
More choice the merrier I guess, imagine if only Internet Explorer was the only browser, it does the job but good that we have a variety :)
We all know PC gaming has better graphics but this is about consoles and what they are able to do, PC's will always have better graphics than consoles until they make it so we can upgrade consoles ourselves just like we can with a PC.
I gotta agree, a new Nintendo console I'm not too bothered by but the 360 or PS3 don't need an upgrade for a few years yet in my opinion (360 could do with a blue ray drive)
Maybe I'm an old fart, I mean my first gaming machine was an Atari 2600, but I am actually impressed by the visuals of this, and it just shows the potential of the current consoles.
What's with the people reporting this as spam? This is news, it is informing people that they could brick their consoles or update by mistake by following the fake CFW out there

There are upsides and downsides to CFW, I like these legit kind of things but not piracy
