Microsoft overworked PR team is surely working hard to get the media onside with Xbox. This tactic is very obvious.
Sony will release info when they are ready. Microsoft has to do this because they have been on the backfoot for 6 years.
Its true Microsoft's PR department is working overtime. They are very good at PR and getting the US media onside.
Microsoft is in a position to throw money around to buy customers, which is exactly what they doing. I knew Microsoft would do this, as being a huge powerful corporation, they have the means to wipe-out any competitor.
Its not only game engines. Its innovation in input as well. ie controller design. At the moment, the controller is going to be the same as it has been for the last 20 years.
Evolution in gameplay is improvements and innovation in game engines and controller/input designs.
And at the moment, from Sony and Microsoft, all I see is more of the same.
Hope the PS5 controller will have back buttons. But I would like it offer more functionality (eg button combos or another single function) not just remapping the existing buttons. I have the back button attachment, its very comfortable and works very well.

The corporations are pushing streaming for one reason. Money. Streaming will require a subscription, and they know that subscriptions are a gold mine.
Microsoft and subscriptions, they realised it makes them heaps of money. Pushing streaming, multi-player etc you need a subscription so of they are pushing it. And of course Forbes will agree with that.
Using AI to assist if players need is ok. But it's a slippery slope if payment is required for help, which will result in game design being affected. Companies are trying to extract as much money from customers by coming up with other revenue streams. I hope for future gamers that this doesn't get any further than a patent.
Multiplayer is pushed because they want more people to sign up for subscriptions and to keep subscriptions. It's all about the money.
The dashboard and the ads and them pushing their own services. It's a mess.
The controller. No gyro. The parts and materials feel cheap. AA is battery is good though.
The games. The games they mostly promote I'm not interested in.
The OS. Much prefer Sony's based BSD OS and layout.
I wonder what sales figures would be for each region. I would say most of Xbox sales are in the US so there would be an even larger sales gap between PS4 and Xbox in Europe, Asia, etc.
That's not a good sign.
Microsoft's huge advantage is - subscriptions.
Yes, Microsoft realised very early on that subscriptions bring in da money, lots of it. Apparently consumers love to pay rent, continuously.
Stadia was probably an employee or intern project to satisfy their performance report and to advance in the company. They and the others may have moved on now.
A Playstation user here, and totally agree with him. I expect 1080p @ 60fps absolute min for every game. The rest of the effort and tech I would like to see go to in advancing and innovating game engines, graphic effects, controllers, VR, etc
I'm one of those who prefer to avoid Google when I can, and since there are alternatives to Stadia, I have no intention of getting it.
In general, America does prefer shooters, run'n'gun, etc, with their gaming media promoting them. This generality is obvious to the rest of the world and Microsoft knows that too. Which is why the Sony PS4 is significantly more popular outside of America.
