I remember when Sony or Rockstar was asked about this exclusive they said they weren't even talking about what it would be, so I doubt it's L.A. Noire since some people already knew about that and the signed exclusive wasn't even in development or in the minds of Rockstar at the time.
I knew I wasn't the only one who preferred Resistance 2 over Killzone 2.

Pretty much their loss like you said.
The only problems I have with late ports anyway is the price they're asking me to pay full price for something I can get cheaper on another platform other than that as long as I'll eventually get a chance to play the game I'm good.
In my opinion it's not really an old game if it's new to the gamer playing it.
Capcom does support the PS3 but compared to how they are supporting the 360 I can see why people get mad.

but in my case I try to gamble on my choice sometimes it's just more fun for mr to play a game and say hey this is awesome totally unexpected, to the I knew it was good because everyone else says so.
If it ends up being a bad game then it'll be my fault but I won't regret the gamble I regretted Lair but I don't regret Psychonauts, I regretted Haze but I don't regret Folklore.

Late ports don't sell
I'm a PS3 fan because simply put I trusted Sony's 1st and 2nd party from the start and I love how they surprise me with amazing new IP's.
Folklore was a great experience, Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and I'm sure soon Sucker Punch will surprise me by showing they can create games that aren't stuck to the genre's that they were accustomed to.

in Resi 4 it may have leaned towards action but it still had certain survivor horror elements so the stop and shoot were excusible, since Resident Evil 5 embraced action and completely shunned survivor and horror the stop and shoot was not necessary it was "slow"
In action games it has to be faster than run, stop, aim and shoot it has to take away the stop. In action games you have to be able to freely move your character while fighting not just standing still.
