I still have some reservations about this so hopefully (access permitting) this will allay my fears.
True. Much of what games consist of is subjective, GFX, Art direction (no its not the same as graphics), Sound FX , Musical score, Gameplay mechanics, Story (if any) direction, pacing - the list is endless, and ALL without question are subjective.
But then so is this opinion. You can agree its a 'good' opinion or a 'bad' opinion.
Now excuse me while I go and shoot myself in the head to end this existential quandary.
I want both, but i'll take better gameplay over better graphics any day, to a point. Low res textures etc and dull art direction can distract from a games overall enjoyment even if the gameplay is good. The way to look at it (from a dev POV) is the gameplay has to be there above all, then the GFX should be built around that and then both tweaked so they complement each other and thats the hard part, getting the balance just right.

I like the idea of this and no doubt there is some great and unique items for you collectors, but pound for dollar the humble bundles just smash anything they can put in a box as far as I'm concerned. Most of the content seems like stuff I would find in either a kinder egg.

This game crept up on me and just blew me away, well worth the score given. Possible GOTY?
I played AVP for Jaguar and it blew my mind back in the day, mainly due to its gfx (it was a doom 'clone' after all) but games have moved on and so have the standards. There will never be a "best" game of any kind because the industry moves forward and what was once regarded as the 'best' or cutting edge will be overshadowed by new and, for the most part, better things.
