The CELL CPU had 8 SPUs, it always said 7 SPUs, and 1 disabled due to yield.
That means, they could never "unlock" what could be "broken" thus it remaining 7 SPUs.
In the PS4, they have downclocked a 7970 down to 800mhz. Even the mobile laptop model is at 850MHZ.
Read the new interview with Cerny, he said down a few years their releasing brand new APIs that will knock out anything we will see in years prior to the PS...
Firstly, PS4 GPU is 1.82 TFlops @800MHZ! Indicating it is downclocked to 800mhz from 1GHZ. It isnt a 7850 but a 7870 downclocked.
That 1.82TFlops is also GPU alone.
They have not released what the Jaguar CPUs are clocked at.
In a device like a tablet that relies on batteries, they are capable of being 1.6GHZ.
In a system like this, their low heat and power default would still allow them to be over clocked at 2.03GHZ each. Factor that into the 1.82...
All I know is, Im buying PS4s for my bro and I DAY 1.

MOST people will notice the framerate in an epic Battlefield map than the difference between 720P and 1080P
Its SO annoying seeing how fast the awesome jet battles fly out in the air in a map like Caspian Border on pc BF3 at 60FPS than how it looks on console.
It looks odd at 30FPS, like flying fishes. crazy.

Im getting both games Day1, like I got KZ 2,3 on PS3 and BFBC1,2 And BF3 day 1. Their totally different kind of shooters and love both.
The MOST APPRECIATIVE Battlefield fans would be those like me, had the PS3 version... 30FPS... garbage textures. This is one of the main reasons Im buying a PS4 day 1! If they get that GFX next gen PS4, my Lord, Im going to be a happy gamer.

In other news : They should focus on getting Tegra 4 mainstream. With PC sales declining, tablets fast replacing them, and Qualcomm still being favored in the mobile arena, Nvidia should be careful, their market share is going to start declining.
