Microsoft assume that everyone has a living room big enough (or that they intend to move their xbox all the time simply to use kinect) to use kinect and not break anything or get hurt. Kinect is simply an "add-on" to the xbox which turns it into a wannabe Wii

I think that this is the case. Parents buying their kids console's go for the cheaper one or the one they ask for, and all i hear about from my Little brothers friends is "XBOX, XBOX".
I believe that kids are more interested in the name and believe it is cool and so they are attracted to it and their parants are happy to get them a xbox over a ps3 due to price

yeh i hate the fee as well. Sure psn doesnt have quite as many features as XBL. But the features like TV do make give the ps3 a major advantage. (Before anyone shouts ESPN! Thats just one channel...)
