Simple fact about shooters is that when you think about how would you make your own. Ok you need guns maybe a ADS option and an enemy with a gun. The setting could be in the middle-east because its super easy to make up a reason why the US army is there. Not much effort right?

No its really not. Theres no tention or fun if im running low on ammo and then when a necromorph drops something and you have an "Oh sh*t" moment because its ammo for a weapon that wouldnt help you much in a situation your currently in.
Its basically like saying a shotgun slug will work in a rifle that uses a 5.56 NATO round. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ADD THIS FEATURE.

After the release of COD4 quite a few shooters just popped up. Frontlines, BFBC (play the SP and theres a lot of scenes taken straight from COD), MOH 2010 and Homefront.
Those are the ones i can remember of the top of my head.
ME didnt inspire other games to become like it though. Its still a very Unique franchise and theres nothing else like it.

All you could do was slow it down by severing its legs. Removal of all its legs and arms stopped it in its tracks for a short time.
