I disagree, look how well the Kinect sold when it first came out mid gen of the XBOX 360. On the other hand, bundling a peripheral doesn't guarantee it's success and adoption (e.g. XBOX one and Kintect2)
I hear a lot of people calling VR the next gimmick/tech fad. They are probably people who haven't even tried it yet.
Once Oculus VR and Morpheus start being demoed in stores like Best Buy where regular people try it for themselves, I think it will sell very well as long as they have good games at launch that show off the tech.
Just look at how well the Kinect sold and that's no where near as good a product as the Rift or Morpheus.
Keep in mind we were seeing stuff from Fox Engine back in 2012. And since MGS V is a cross-gen title, they probably had to limit the gfx due to old gen limitations.
I'm sure that Fox engine has been improved on over the years and PT allows us to get glimpse of what this current gen can really do.
Other than the Demon/Dark Souls series, most of the games nowadays spell things out way too clearly for the player in hopes of avoiding gamer frustration thereby making it appeal to a larger market.
Forget all that, PT harkens back to old school games where you would spend not only hours, but days stuck in an area. But when you finally figured it out, it was soo satisfying.
Without the internet, I'm sure there would be tons of people still being laughed a...
I said... Look behind you. NOPE!
The special edition should come with a pack of diapers personally signed by Kojima.
Be prepared for The Division gfx downgrade. You've been warned.
One has to wonder how long Capcom will stay in business making these type of decisions and not focusing on new IP and rehashing old ones.
Watch Dogs had an extra 6 months, and if anything the game looks worse than previously shown and lots of PC gamers are complaining of poor FPS performance and glitches. That might have to do with it being a multi -platform game while 1886 is only PS4. So they may put that extra time to better use.
Good point Zin, I never thought about it that way. But I would be disappointed if I play the game and try to run down a street and there are some barrels blocking my way (i.e. an invisible wall) that forces me to stay on a particular path because the narrative requires it. With MGS Ground Zeroes I think they showed in this gen you can have awesome graphics and still have an open world to play in. But I think The Order is going for a more traditional linear story and has to design the maps acc...
I have two concerns with The Order: 1886.
1) The character models are so detailed that there isn't much left for the environment. All the footage I've seen in-game is everyone in tight spots whether it is a blocked off street or crammed into some room. So I don't expect to have a wide open world to play in and will have to settle for moving from one small set piece to another.
2)The gameplay looks a lot like GoW. Someone said they are afraid it wi...
I don't understand the hate for selling to Facebook. If you were in his position, would you say no to 2 billion dollars?
Those of you who kickstarted for $350 or more were purchasing a product. The 1st version of the Oculus headset, and you got what you paid for. You didn't buy stock in the company or sign on as a partner.
With all the Facebook money, Oculus will probably get the consumer version out much earlier than scheduled and have custom made pa...
I wonder if they setup a 3d-scan session for a cardboard box.
Best case scenario: This is hinting at The Phantom Pain release date.
Worst case scenario: This is paid DLC for Ground Zeroes. (Wow, what an uproar that would cause)
Not all gaming companies do the trailer/teaser bait and switch (See MGS V Ground Zeroes which looks awesome and next gen despite being on last gen consoles as well).
Ubisoft was able to destroy 2 years of hype and anticipation within 24 hours because of their E3 2012 trailer trickery.
This makes me worry about the reality of The Division. I was really looking forward to closing that police car door...
Avoiding spoilers for this one seems like it will be not be easy. Especially considering that TPP may not even be out till mid next year or even late next year.
I think when you look at a next gen game like Deep Down and see how awesome the game looks, you realize that you are only going from room to room which gives you very little to render relatively speaking so you can can go all out graphically. Despite that,MGS V is still no slouch in the graphics department.
It is hard to believe that this is only first-gen graphics on the PS4. Imagine what games will look like 5 years from now once developers start taking full advantage of the architecture.
u mad bro?
Gaming gfx have come such a long a way. I remember playing Mortal Kombat in the arcade back in the 90s and the most gory it would get is a few red pixels representing blood or a beating heart.
Now you have x-ray like images showing skulls being fractured, organs bursting, and even veins popping. All this in real time. Crazy stuff
