pretty sure that after sony started removing features and taking people to court, the gloves came off.
Its funny because if Sony would have never removed OtherOS to counter Geohot's original exploit, none of this would have probably ever happened. Now because sony's encryption keys are available to the world, the ps3 went from the most secure console to the most hackable in a few short months. In Sony's world, it's better to lose an entire arm than just a finger.
meanwhile 10000 new goehotz have popped up all over the world. way to win the battle, sony. too bad your losing the war
I wonder how long until sony wises up. It took microsoft awhile but now they embrace hackers and look what they've done for the kinect and windows 7 mobile.
Agreed. I thought the side quests were quite enjoyable, but its all just a matter of opinion
Great article. And I completely agree for the most part.
Personally, I enjoyed DA2 a lot but I do agree with the criticisms on both ends. Fanboys are heaping undeserved praise and haters are bring unfair with their criticism.
Although I do wonder why bioware made some of the changes that they did. The one huge complaint I have is with the recycled environments. Lazy or lack of time? I do not know, but it's a good game. not great, not terrible.
and you know he doesn't have a real job, HOW? He seems to have the skills to pay the bills. People can do these things in their free time, you know.
you, on the other hand...how do we know YOU have a job? Or are you just a drain on society? Trolling news stories to insult people who don't even know you exist. Seems to me that your the one living the pathetic existance
Let the haters hate, man.
As much as I dislike Geohot as a person (too much of an attention whore), It's people like him that will be remembered when the courts finally tell these giant companies to stop overstepping their boundaries.
Sony has every right to defend themselves against piracy, but they can't fight it by restricting our consumer rights. And if its Geohot that will stand against them, then so be it.
I think Sony knows tha...
Too bad it won't actually matter. There are a million geohot's all over the world. You think stopping one will actually make a difference?
When the put Al Capone in jail did that stop organized crime?
The war on drugs is 40 years old. How's the outcome of that looking?
RIAA has sued hundreds of people. Did that stop music piracy?
America has been battling Al Qaeda for almost 10 years now. Did that put a dent in gl...
I'll donate
I hope this lawsuit goes exactly the way it did for Apple
I'd donate a million dollars if i could! All the idiots posting in this article make me sad because they don't even realize that Sony is stamping all over the consumer rights.
Yeah piracy is bad, but this isn't about piracy at all. It's about our ability to do whatever the hell we want with the hardware we paid for. And it's exactly why Apple lost i...
@morganfell
No, I don't think it'll go that way.
Sony is most likely going to lose this case. They tend to throw as much as they can at the wall to see what sticks. This case will not stick. Geohot will gain lots of notoriety that should = $$$ in the future.
If sony didn't care, why would they be fighting so hard against it? For the last few months they have been patching the ps3 at least once a week, and now they are taking ev...
Because the pressure is on Sony to challenge and overcoming a consumer's right to use the device in whatever way they see fit as long as they are not reselling the modified product for a profit
Wow. Whole lotta morons replying to this story.
Assuming they could even catch him, or if he's even in a country that would take the charge seriously, what case would sony have? He didn't make any real demand.
But whatever. It's all pointless because he released the info a few hours ago. GG
meanwhile sony continues to fight a losing battle while subjecting legit customers to annoying features like weekly system updates. lol
no dragon age 2?
