They'll find a way to screw it up.
They had the perfect answer to the 3DS with the vita, but boneheaded decisions like a proprietary memory card sank those chances.

I hope we get a sequel that allows us to continue on as a sixth year with the character we created in this one.

Plenty of turn based RPGs were on the market during those times, yet those are the ones remembered the most. Wanna know why? It wasn't the combat system that made those games legendary.
It was the story, the world, the characters, the lore, that did.

The "benchmark" option is also useless. All it does is do a quick scan and suggest some recommended settings; it doesn't do an actual benchmark run and let you play with the settings to find that custom sweet spot of visuals and performance.
Plus I heard that you can't use some actual, real names because they contain "offensive" phrases, which if true, is annoying. I luckily haven't ran into that when I put in my first and last name, but RIP to those t...

So far as I know, the day one patch scheduled for the 10th is supposed to fix various bugs and offer performance improvements.
Hopefully the patch that's supposed to drop tomorrow will fix most, if not all of those issues.
