I've downloaded it for the PS3, but have not been able to connect yet.
The first time, I just got a loading message flashing for about 10 minutes, and the next time I tried, it just seemed to hang after clicking multiplayer.
Is anybody else having problems? (BTW I'm in the UK)
The video gave me flashbacks to the circus challenges in TimeSplitters!
I absolutely loved Guerrilla, but I hadn't been following any news about Armageddon.
So, when I started playing the demo, my first thought was...yeah, this is alright, but when do we get off these rails and out into open world...you can imagine my disappointment, when I figured out they had dropped open world
Deleted the demo and didn't even consider renting it.
How cynical we have all become :)
I still remember being so excited at the early COD4 trailers. Do you remember the one that was mainly night vision (maybe onboard the ship), with loads of sight lines flashing all over the place, and how amazing it looked?
Now expectations are so low (and rightly so).
I don't know what AI fixes they have made, but I played it this evening after applying the 1.02 patch and the AI still sucks big time. Really spoils the experience for me.
How exactly do they know all of this?
Presumably the game is uploading everybody's stats to the Square Enix servers.
You would expect this for an online game, because obviously the data is already on the serves, but for an offline game, I am not sure that Square Enix should be capturing data from the console, without a very clear opt-in.
The problem is that you do come up against people who have played for a while, and so know the maps and the ins and outs, and have all the unlockables.
So you are faced with an experienced player who also has the benefit of the unlockables.
This makes it more difficult for the beginner or casual player, who just can't afford the time to get the unlockables.
I would prefer either a level playing field (where everybody has the same weapons, and only skill ...
If the demo is anything to go by, then this really is quite a poor game.
The graphics are most definitely last gen, and even that it being generous. I thought I was playing Doom on the PS1.
Now graphics aren't everything, but there is a level that you come to expect and it is too jarring when they are so below par.
Of course, the more important thing is gameplay. But again, this gameplay might have been fine 10 years ago, but now it is such a massive ste...
I don't think it is really useful to call every opinion that raises issues with Killzone 2 hate. I think that:
* Killzone 2 is not innovative
* Guerilla never said it was going to be innovative
* Nobody else ever said that it was going to be innovative
* There has been some much hype, that people still expected something innovative
The people that expected something innovative were wrong, and Killzone 2 is a probably a great game, but is not above a...
Would it really hurt to throw a kiss in there somewhere?! :)
The problem remains that the expectations for Killzone 2 are just too high. There has never been any claims that the gameplay would be innovative in any way. The graphics are good (perhaps not as good as they have been hyped), the AI seems good and the gameplay seems solid.
It is just another FPS, a good one, but it is hard for a FPS to be groundbreaking, and Killzone 2 isn't. It brings an incremental improvement. Killzone 3 will likley be the same, it will incrementally improve ...
Loved the first one, but stopped playing it due to too much lag at weekends and in the evenings.
That said it is my favourite shooter on the PS3. Not exactly sure why but I just like the gameplay more than COD4. I'll have to withold judgement on the KZ2 multiplayer, but I think it will play similar to COD4. Loads and loads of people love COD4, and will no doubt love KZ2, but I just prefer BFBC (and hopefully SOCOM when it comes out in the UK).
It might be better to just write an Xbox 360 emulator for the PS3.
I'll see what I can knock up today :)
I installed it last night, played it twice and then I also uninstalled it. I found the controls and the aiming very poor and the gameplay just terribly stilted, with the enemy movements being very unconvincing.
Not even a rental for me. Shame. Might see if there are any other interesting demos in the next few days :)
Yeah, that's true. It would be cool if they occassionally went crazy because you killed their mate, or ran off screaming or, as you say, froze.
In many ways AI that is too realistic is probably a bad thing, because real AI would be - dig in, and take pot shots for 6 hours. If you were aggressive in a real life battle (i.e. ran towards them shooting) you would get killed pretty quickly, by some guy you never even saw. But digging in for hours would be a realistic, but not very fun...
Fair enough, although when they have good AI I think they would be better off playing it on a harder difficulty to show it off.
I'm still a bit unconvinced that the gameplay is going to be much different to COD4, so anything that shows important gameplay aspects (such as AI) interests me.
Presumably they could get somebody good to play it for the video :)
Why were those Helghast just crouching in open ground, or crouching behind that cover with most of their bodies exposed when a guy in an armoured exo skeleton is mowing them down?
I have always found it a little bit stupid that as you gain more experience in online multiplayer you get better weapons and other upgrades.
I understand that it is a reward for playing but makes the imbalance between new and experienced players even wider.
I find myself playing a new game against people with more experience of the game, who know the maps inside out, and then they are armed to the teeth with much better weapons too!
If anything you shou...
When I saw a recent gameplay video I pretty much wrote this off, mainly due to the graphics (it is hard not to draw comparisons with KZ2 these days).
Having played the demo I think that it is probably a definite rental for me. The gameplay is not fantastic but I do like the Slow-Mo (never played the original FEAR, so it is still a novelty for me), and the graphics are actually OK.
The supernatural parts of the demo really creeped me out, which is what makes me want t...
Judging by the comments of gamers here and elsewhere, it does seem that it is a marketing failure, because many people are claiming that they will cancel their pre-order.
Even if they are stupid to do so, they are still going to do so, and that is a marketing failure.
However, if the finished product does turn out to be good, those people will simply buy the game a few days later.
So, if the game is good, then there is no real harm done...
