You'll have to remember that these are new type of cards. It's only obvious that it will have rather higher price than old memory cards. Since when new tech are sold terribly cheap?
Give it a couple of months and you'll see 3rd party memory cards from sandisk, kingston or your other favorite mmc makers popping out of nowhere with lower price than Sony's.

Let's not jump all over the price of the memory cards, remember that those prices are converted from japanese yen and prices in Japan are really expensive.
Take for example the current PS3 price. It's $250 in the U.S. and 24,980 yen in Japan. If you convert 24,980 yen to dollars it will be $325. That's a $75 difference. 30% much more expensive.
So if you want to arrive at the estimated U.S. price, you need to slash 30% off from the converted price...
