I think Insomniac's track record is much better than the majority of major developers these days. With the exception of FUSE, virtually every game they have touched has been well received.
Spryo, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance have all been seen as flagship franchises on each respective Sony console.

The Saint's Row experience and the Grand Theft Auto experience are two markedly different games. To claim someone must trade one in because it is not 'real' makes no sense.
If you can't live in a world where there can be more than one open-world 'crime' sandbox title, then perhaps you should start looking for tickets to the moon.
It'd be pretty great to see another entry like Shadow of the Colossus make waves on a new console. Think of the potential there.
