PSNow also has downloads Carl. PS2 games running natively on the PS4...for a price. Sounds like BC to me. Only not free.

They immediately removed perfectly working and free BC from the PS3 slim when they introduced remasters.
They didn't make PS4 backwards compatible with PS2 games, instead opted to monetize that through PS2 classics
They didn't allow free PS3 streaming for games you already own digitally through PSNow or at the very least off...
The console race? Probably not. Does it benefit me that I can play the best Battlefield game (Bad Company 2, don't @me) and Castlevania Lords of Shadow on my Xbox One? Yes! Tremendously!

Free BC from Sony stopped back on 2009 with the release of the PS3 slim. It's funny because 2009 is also when they introduced their first remastered game...merely a coincidence I'm sure.
