You should read it a little bit further because the author does separate hackers from pirates. Pirates are in it for the $$, but hackers are in it for the fame/challenge.

I think the main complaint and the most valid complaint is the lack of killer 3rd party titles. Sony used to rule on the PS2 with exclusives, now the PS3 is a dried up river bed. What we need are for the 1st party stuff to release a new all-original killer franchise on the PS3 -- the way Gears of War has been for Microsoft. That's my 2cents

Bungie bought their freedom from MS so that they can work on new IPs. Halo Reach will be their last game for that universe. So there are some glimmers of a new franchise from the Bungie guys... let's just hope so. Whether or not they will do it for Sony seems kinda far-fetched.
