MS and sony need to make a profit in their games division. Sony needs to cut production costs to recoup losses on PS3 and MS needs to publish A LOT of new games to help recoup losses on the original Xbox.

I'd say this list is fairly accurate with the PS2, Xbox, and dreamcast. But I believe Metroid Prime deserves a spot on the GCN list.
Like you probably do, I mostly game on my PS3. But make sure to purchase Metroid Prime 3, even if you never played one. That game is simply one of the best games of all time. So amazing. I could give you a list of reasons why, but I encourage you to find out yourself. Do some research on it and see for yourself. I only wish I had never played it so that I could have the joy of playing it for the first time. Make sure to check Super Mario Galaxy as well, its absolutely fantastic.
firstly, the xbox 360 originally had a failure rate of 33% not 60%. That percentage has been reduced by more than half. It is much more reliable now.

I'm not sure myself. They will obviously lose loads of money selling the PS3 at a bigger loss, but all those people who buy a PS3 will want games. Sony could recoup losses with software sales. One thing is for certain, PS3s would fly off the shelves from a price reduction.
Once you have it you wont really use it that much trust me. The only PS2 games I played on my 80 GB PS3 were RE4 again, GOW2, and SotC. And I had already played RE4 and SotC on the PS2. It would be nice, but I would honestly like for sony to enhance other aspects of the PS3 OS. Like having a party in game, custom avatars, and cross game chat. That would make my PS3 the best console in ALL areas IMO.
Sega as a publisher just has to understand that hardcore games wont do as well as casual games on Wii. (Metroid Prime 3 sales=over 500,000;Wii Fit sales=over 8,000,000) I also believe that Platinum games is a studio that is much too talented to be developing games for Wii.
