They can do it because there are millions of PS4 on the market...nothing the fanbase can do about it. Also, pretty sure it won't be the last time they do these authoritarian tactics.

These patches cost money to make....fanbase don't want to pay for it it will just be another form of
DLC (horrible word), Sony don't want to pay for it because then it will open up a pandora box and
all developers will want more money. Developers don't want to pay for it because manpower=$$$$$
same thing goes for the Xbox scorpio.....
Mobile VR is poised to compete with PSVR will be much cheaper also good because that will keep them in check.
Who's gonna pay for it? Sony? Developers? The players? everybody wants patches for games but further development for games might as well be a form of DLC and DLC costs money. wait for it......
