I read the article and it was stupid. Why are we spending so much time discussing "who will win?"
It's the same with other games and even consoles. Are people so emotionally invested in a product or a company that they need to constantly discuss sales and popularity? Whether Battlefield 3 outsells MW3 (it probably won't) or not, those games will co-exist and Call of Duty is going no where.

When you've invested quite a bit of money in something only to find out it's basically an unfinished product, it's a real kick the face.

It's a great game. It's not exactly mind blowing but it's a fun way to pass the time and is ridiculously cheap.
