Valve aren't in a tough situation, i honestly dont see why they would be , as they aren't the one producing these steam machines. What they are doing is help broadening the PC market. Playing games on steam from a linux machine can be tedious at times. With Valve behind their own modified OS , they can provide better support, optimization and ease of use. It's not going to revolutionize the PC Gaming scene , it's only going to expand the current market and bring more revenue in the long term

As for me , i do need an upgrade tho i do not feel in a hurry , my gtx560 ti is still performing well despite its age.
If you're like me and dont really like upgrading your gpu every year, wait for the new batch of cards, the "true" dx12 based cards should have some extra features the current don't have.
In today's world, 60$ for 5hours -+ gameplay is overpriced. I think they should have worked on a co-op feature and some multiplayer .
I have not looked at the gameplay too much as to not spoil it for me but it came off as a Gears of War type of game. If that is indeed the audience they were gunning for, they should have included either or both co-op and multiplayer in my opinion. I do not think anybody would buy either COD or BF for its SP campaign alone.

It's just the amd fanboys that actually make it out to be a big deal. If you're playing at 4k , you might as well ditch the extra cash for 1 or 2 gtx 980 or a titan. the 970 is a good card to run everything at 1080p max settings for the next 3-4 years.
