I see what your saying, but in the end the choices should affect gameplay. Even with less choices compared to Infamous 2, the gameplay still is just as fun. If I'm evil I get to destroy everything in my path, and as a player, that is fun for me.
I can understand your perspective. I don't think people want others to lose jobs. That is just sadistic. I think people are tired of Nintendo not competing in hardware to the best of their ability. Even the success of the 3DS is due to cheap price and great software. Most people don't like the hardware or online features.
I have a Wii U. So far, nothing on the gamepad has changed my view on playing games on it. It is comfortable I will give it that, but I don't feel its necessary. So far everything you have described is a convenience feature. There is not one feature on the gamepad that should inflate the price by $100.
Games are not the primary problem in my opinion. The PS Vita has some great original games like Gravity Rush and Tearaway. The truth is most of the Vita's target audience does not need a portable device when they have an iphone. It's the sad truth.
I discussed in the article, that in the future, more gamers might get it as a supplement to PS+ and PS4. In Japan it is selling better, but in America it is still moving pretty slow. If Sony can get the price down $100-$150 dollars. It could start selling a lot better bundled with a PS4
@Axonometri: 2-3 years later, if it is still selling, the components should be cheap enough to sell for that price. I believe Sony wants to keep the Vita going as long as possible. I don'...
This is absolutely correct. Dumping Kinect would change the vision of the console one hundred percent. They will use the resources to create the best games they can and ride it out until it is at an affordable price range. If no one buys in, they have to decide if creating a games console is worth it for their bottom line next generation.
Exactly. "Dudebros" will religiously buy Call of Duty and Madden every year because they enjoy it. Casuals don't have the type of dedication usually to a certain game. There is a chance of converting a "dudebro" to a different type of game. That is why EA and Ubisoft want to support consoles that have a large install base.
Yes and no. I do talk about in the article how there is a chance that there may be a game that comes along and changes their buying routine. If there into Call of Duty, there could be a shooter that is critically acclaimed that catches their attention and they pick it up. Let's say that happens to 1 out of every 100 casual players. This numbers adds up quickly with a 60 million install base. The "hardcore players" were going to buy the game anyway. So the casual shooter players ...
And also mindshare, but yes an increased installed base is important for third party and first party. If you don't have that, your stuck with a WiiU and PS Vita situation.
I agree I didn't touch on that in this article, but i don't understand the superiority complex. I enjoy games like Gone Home, Super Mario 3D World, and The Last of Us. But, I also enjoy career mode on Madden because its a fun experience. I believe there are games that should be cinematic and artful because that is what I enjoy, but I also enjoy a good game of Madden as well. Also without the "mass market" there is no Last of Us. Developers will be afraid to take risk because...
i have played a whole season in my GM mode, and it froze in the playoffs. I have had this problem for two weeks. Many other people have had this problem for awhile now. 2k still has not fixed it. I don't even know if they plan to fix GM mode.
I have this weird feeling that Reggie really does not have that much input. Remember Iwata is also the CEO of NOA I believe. I would love to see how Reggie handles his position with a new CEO letting NOA run free.
"REGGIE UNLEASHED"
LMAO I think you mean Cammie...she retired a long time ago.
I really agree with your statement. If Iwata had a nice plan to turn things around, I think people would be more at ease at letting him stay. The problem is, he has not given really given any definite plans about the future. The next generation is the most worrisome. They have a chance of being completely irrelevant by the next console cycle as far as home consoles are concerned.
Read the review Grave and it will tell you everything you need to know and where Nintendo is at.
It's a tablet in your hand, a second screen experience. Many commenters have already discussed the problems with the Wii U I'll tell you exactly why it is not selling.
Price: Everyone can proclaim all they want about how the 3DS software sold the 3DS. Software helped, but it was the price. If the 3ds was 250 still it would not sell. Families and gamers see Nintendo as a second console experience or a casual machine. If it launched for $250 it would not have had the s...
I agree I was going to make an article about this. If a Sony or Microsoft studio made Skyward Sword it would have received 7.5-8.0 tops for its dated design, but since it's Nintendo we can excuse all those problems for nostalgia.
Interesting perspective, I have not heard to many people say the story is overrated . I have heard about people complaining about the game mechanics though. Did you play all the way to the end.
It's not unusual for some of the best games to come near the end of the generation. In the PS2 era, we had Shadow of the Colossus, God of War 2, Twilight Princess, etc at the tail end of the generation. Bioshock Infinite, GTA 5, and The Last of Us are definitely some of the games this generation.
I'm glad you mentioned The Last of Us. The Last of Us is more like a movie in the sense that we do not get to choose Joel's choices at the end of the game. Which is what made the game great. Joel's actions are debated because the team has already decided for us what Joel's actions would be. If a game is going to give us morality choices, like Infamous, it might as well be for the sake of fun and gameplay. Give me a choice to destroy a city block and give me the incentive to do...
