the textures and small details are what attracted a lot of people who didn't like Battlefield before. myself, included.
the PC trailers looked absolutely incredible. the console versions do not. they look *good* but, not what they've been selling us over the past year.
in which case, i've lost interest. the graphics and details were what *really* made the difference between this and Call of Duty. sure, the gameplay is a little different, and there...
are some of you implying that you think this will be just part of your xbl subscription? because, yeah, no, that's not happening.
they (hopefully) won't raise the cost of XBL, but, there's no chance in hell you're going to get free cable all of a sudden. there will definitely be an additional fee, on top of your XBL gold account. just like Netflix, Hulu, Zune, Music Unlimited, MLB TV, etc.

i'm with you. how anyone can think the story in Gears 3 is "flawlessly written" is beyond me.
it's a great game. and the storytelling is...better than Gears 2.
but, that isn't really saying much, you know?
Not that big a deal, but, I wish we knew why they did this. I was actually most excited about the strategy guide more than anything else in the package.
the only comparison between the two is that they're console exclusives.

One was a third person, tactical shooter, done by a different developer, 3 years ago.
One is a first person, sci-fi shooter done by the same developer it's always been made by, coming out next month.
