This point ALWAYS gets raised but Shenmue was a 16 chapter epic. It's been condensed into 11 chapters now but Shenmue 3 is only chapter 4 of that saga.
The story is driven by locations so there is no way he could finish it at 3.
There's more to the story than Ryo's quest for revenge.

Backed Shenmue 3 and I've just finished it. I'm happy with it, mostly. It's the most 'game' a Shenmue game has ever been. Unlike Shenmue 1/2, I actually enjoyed my time in the world and found myself getting hooked by its gameplay loops. I literally spent in-game days doing nothing to progress the story. The game is short, I finished it in about 35 hours and that was only because it did classic Shenmue roadblocks which surprisingly could be resolved in a number of ways base...
The rush to finish games in order to meet review deadlines ruins games that ask you to take your time.
Even more reason to take Epic's money, then.
I've played the trial quite a bit over the last weekend and I think I've exhausted pretty much everything you can do and I still want to go back for more.
Fishing is the main game but its not playable in the trial.
Well, yes. The refund options are for PC backers only. If you changed your pledge to PS4 before they announced the refund option, you are a PS4 backer and you're not entitled to a refund.
I don't see the problem as they would only be accused of being dishonest if this was the case and they did not inform having known in advance. As this is a new juncture where the money is changing hands; the lack of a potential Steam key would push some backers on the fence to refund. They are essentially saying "if you are holding out for a steam key only; it's not guaranteed so proceed via refund to get your money back. Epic is paying; it won't hurt the game"

Shenmue was a Dreamcast game but I really hope it comes to Xbox purely to help for Shenmue 4.
Shenmue 3 won't be the end of the story.
But that's the point.
So far in the game, I'm around level 28, my characters sexuality is not implied. I make decisions on who to have sex with to advance the plot/expand the narrative.
Player choice is part of the story.
Good.
Player choice is a major part of Odyssey and they sold it on the back of freedoms around relationships and sexuality.
To force a player to follow a hetero path, at odds with their character choice, is insulting and lazy.
You can choose the Japanese VO which is way better.
Mafia 2 was brilliant. Loved the story.
