Wii U software sales, especially for the top games are something else. I mean, Splatoon is the highest selling console exclusive in years for a new IP.

Nintendo has been recognized as the publisher of the year the last 5 or so years by the largest gaming outlets in the industry mostly because the Wii U and 3DS have been so spectacular. Wii U is down this year because it is being replaced but 3DS is killing it.
Most big journalists already think Nintendo is running away with pub of the year because of the insane 3DS stuff.
Nintendo Won E3 2014 because of the treehouse and last year it was the most widely viewed thing at E3 over that 3 day period.
