Nintendo sold more software than any publisher did in 2015 outside a small few (maybe even the most, I did not check exactly). Even down, they clean up taking the market into account.

Nintendo did a good job overall considering a new platform is coming. Profit is profit, that is all you can ask for at this point. And 2016 is just incredible from a software publishing perspective.
It actually is, but whether it is a new ip or not is not what is important about the game. It is fun. I am glad it was a success just like I am glad Fire Emblem is a success.
People spend too much time arguing the validity of new ip vs old ip when it comes to Nintendo.

I can list just as many new IP that bombed. I can list just as many old IP that sold better and were more critically acclaimed. No point in just listing off games. My point is New IP are not inherently better or worse than using old IP to make the fans happy of those series happy.
A company makes a new IP. A company brings back a series from 15 years ago that fans have really wanted. Which is inherently better? Neither.

The Last of US is one game. Sony had major new IP bombs last gen and pretty recently with something like The Order and Knack. Nintendo has had New IP bombs too. That is what I am getting at.
