Sound like a steaming helping of jealousy. Storytelling involves your being immersed in the experience. Cutscences are never going away as a method of immersion, no matter what system you play.
No one's looking for a Hallmark movie. I detest cheap sentiment as much as anyone. But, I don't think it's a fair assessment to align UC4 or TLOU with that aesthetic. People have emotions. Exploring them isn't trivial--it's character.

This game looks amazing. Unfortunately, I watched it on youtube and instinctively scrolled to the comments where I was blindsided with a barrage of race-related whining. Ugh I hate people. Just enjoy the game.
This game looked awesome. Especially for a vintage cartoon-o-phile. Sadly, one of only like 2 games that looked interesting at the MS conference that was an exclusive.
Wouldn't it be great if movies had plot trees like in Mass Effect? With each audience member with a remote, and the story changes based on the percentage of those who vote to see one scene over another.
I'll reserve judgement 'til I see more. Not yet sure if the alleged controversy is warranted.
