A good and deep story is always welcomed but it's not necessary. Just look at Demon's Souls, there was barely a story to speak of, but the gameplay was sublime and that's what made the experience so memorable. At least for me.
Of course, this is also depends on the type of game.

I don't really belive single player games are gonna disappear anytime soon.
Kinda off topic but, what I'm really seeing in danger of disappering is split-screen co-op. I really wish developpers would bring that back. Some of my best gaming moments were with 3 other friends in the same room playing games like Champions: RTA, or shooters and what not.
Depends of what type of game really. For a shooter hell no but if it's a game like Persona 4, where I got 100 hours+, then yeah I might.

Ever tried a media server? It's pretty straight foward, and basicly everything on your pc can be accessed.
You should be gratefull, probably wouldn't pass your exams if it was out right now :P

I still prefer gametrailers' retrospective on the series (altho it does ruin the endings of pretty much every metal gear if you haven't played them)
