One thing for sure - this game won't be for everyone and it looks like the Focus will be on cinematic storytelling. That is completely my cup of tea. The scifi setting makes it even more appealing to me. The gameplay however is looking very clunky and slow paced, probably in line with the narrative and setting (which for me isn't a bad thing if the story holds) . Don't think destiny is dead, but imo Destiny is completely bland and vanilla compared to a series like borderlands 2 + presequel - those games did it first, and MUCH better and actually have substance as opposed to rinse repeat levels, minimal / poor story ("I hope players complain there's too much story" => you didn't put any thought into it) and characters, unnecessary monetization, etc. Can't wait for borderlands 3.
