...is steep. And, if it were just me, I would be waiting for a price drop before purchasing one. However, since my wife really wants one, and all her friends want to play it... well, we'll be getting one on launch.

...with what you said.
Does anyone know anything about the color choices for the console or controllers at launch?
...just as excited as you are, dikturbo!
...most places that will sell it have pre-orders set up already.
pick up three more controllers at launch... all different colors (hopefully they don't make us wait for color choices!).
I don't understand why any hardcore gamer or person who just likes to have fun would not own a Wii. I mean, come on! :) Seriously though, Nintendo came out of nowhere and looks to be kicking some serious butt this generation. It has so many things going on with it that it has to appeal to everyone and anyone.
but I see where my in-laws, or my parents, or my sister, or some of my friends, all who are not gamers (and look at the 360 controller like it is some shuttle launching device), will be able to come over and play some simple games. Tennis looks like fun, so does Golf and Baseball. Yeah, it's not my ideal gaming machine, but my wife wants it badly, and I can see playing it with anyone and everyone that comes over without hearing complaints about too many buttons or whatever.
I will probably go reserve one after work today! MY wife wants one really bad, too.
But after the $150 and $170 rumors, I'm a little set-back... but not enough to not buy it!
Don't you hate it when they reject a story you submitted?
...I agree 100%. I would/will buy a PS3 if every matches up. The opportunity cost seems too high, however, as I could spend that kind of money on more games for my 360, and still get a Wii.
...wow, just wow. Sign me up for this one!
Why would any educated gamer buy a PS3 at launch, or in its first year or two of existence? Then again, online play isn't important for some people, I guess. I like having XBOX Live for a bunch of reasons:
1. Play games with friends who live elsewhere (i.e. my brothers live in different states)
2. Demos- both arcade games and full games (try before you buy, and sometimes before the game is even out)
3. Keep track of my highscores and make sure my friends don't beat me in ...
They just now signed someone up to create an online system for the PS3? You mean, they don't have one in the works that they are going to shock us with? Wow. I am truly surprised. I don't understand why any educated gamer would buy the PS3 in its first year, or especially at launch.
...I'll probably spend more money when first getting the Wii (console, Wii games, controllers, Gamecube games) than what I did when I first got my 360. I'm going to end up moving around funiture in my den to make it for nothing but games and gaming... that way I can play GOW and Crackdown, then pick up my Wiimote and dance around swinging it like a tennis racket or whatever.
I thought the same thing a while back, "Nintendo, just make Mario games for the XBOX and PS consoles alreayd!" Fortunately, they didn't give up like we did :) I am looking forward to playing with my wife, and having a couple of friends over for 4player games.
...but now it would be kinda lame, especially for 400MP. I don't know, I'll download the free trial and see what happens. I did the same thing with Frogger and ended up buying it, so this may be another one to add to my collection. Wow, XBOX Live is so frikkin cool.
...just so I can beat my computer gaming friends, and they can't blame the controller! "If I had my mouse and keyboard!" :)
