With Nintendo's past consoles I'd agree with you, but I don't think the technology is there yet for us to viablily have a handheld system with hardware as strong as a X1. Don't you think Sony would have already made a portable PS4 If they could?

While the dock itself doesn't bump the Switches power, the Switch does make use of more power when plugged into the dock, it increases the resolution and runs at a higher clock speed when docked, the system IS dependent on the dock to viably do that.

It's not good for buying already released games, but let's not pretend being able to buy new Ninintendo games with a $10 discount isn't great for Nintendo subscribers.
The 1st game had a hard mode that unlocks after beating it, part 2 didint have one, but hopefully 3 will.
It's the opposite for me, loved the PS2 era and then they started heavily focusing on the story aspect with alot their games. I know alot of people enjoy them but theres just too many long cutscenes for me, when I want to play a game I like to jump straight into the gameplay.
For some it adds replayabilty to games and some people just enjoy completing challanging goals. It was also kinda neat back when Avatar were a bigger focus on Xbox, some of the harder achievements would unlock Avatar items.

Why? Because Microsoft released a Xbox live app on the Switch, they didn't do it just for the hell of it. I dont think we'll see games like Halo or Gears on the Switch but I wouldnt be suprised to see some smaller titles. Cuphead on the Switch has Xbox Achievements I'd guess Microsoft had a say in it's release. Microsoft has released games on Nintendo systems way before Minecraft, like Viva Piniata, so I'm not sure why it would be such a surprise.

No, the players are thrown into the same matchmaking pool, the players are chosen at random, the system doesn't take into consideration what console the players are using.
The only ones complaining about this are people who didn't want crossplay to begin with.
