As a moderator over at TechSpy, I too would like to see the bubbles system disappear. For us, that's one of the major stumbling blocks preventing fleshed-out discussion. When users start, they get three bubbles, which doesn't allow for a lot of wiggle room. Also, people in general (not just on Newsboiler) are quick to negatively rate someone should they disagree with a comment but very rarely positively rate when a comment is good.
