The last generations of toshiba's budget hd-dvd players (A2 and A3) do not cost nearly as much as the A1 to produce. I wouldn't be surprise to learn that their production cost is closer to 100-150$ per unit.

In other words, Toshiba may be losing some money on each A2 and A3 sold at 99$ but much less money than Sony is losing selling the PS3 at 400$ and 500$.

They removed 2 usb ports and memory cards slots. It still has 1 hdmi connection just like the 80gb PS3.

Good question. Are the Venturer HD-dvd players even going to be available soon if ever ? If the answer is yes, then most likely, its gonna have to be sold at a lower price than the Toshiba.

With the HD-A2 this cheap, Microsoft is gonna have to lower the price of its hd-dvd drive addon I think.

The guy keep saying that only 2 studios are supporting HD-DVD while 6 are supporting Blu-ray. This is completely false. So blatantly false, I'm surprised no one else mentionned it already.
