I don't think it was thrown in... this is Rockstar we are talking about. I think they offset a lot of the violence with laughs to try and reduce the uncomfortableness of the scene.
There is a difference between censoring and forcing a player to watch some unrealistic butt and boob physics. I don't want to watch jelly... if they want to do naked ladies make the physics realistic.
Also give players the option to not see some gruesome content. I don't want devs to stop doing things which are considered controversial, I want them to stop forcing players into situations which make me feel sick because it's unnecessary, or give the option to not see it.
Activision own the IP. And the DLC stuff is done by them.

For MGSV:TPP I will just physically look away, so I will handle it, it's just surgery I have an issue with... I can handle torture and things like that... don't know why, because torture is a lot worse. I wouldn't be able to in real life, but in games and films I feel a disconnect for some reason.
Ride - yer... but I couldn't just say the whole game should be canned... well it should... but there are so many games which also can be.
Metro - ye...
I've got 2 ways you missed...
1. Release all the future DLC for free or $1/£2/€1.5.
2. Ditch the IP and start a better one independently... Bungie have the influence to do that.
I agree with the last part, they should be forced to play with other disconnectors.
It is a very hard thing to counter, I am interested to see how developers will do this.
As the graphical improvements get higher the money needed to improve further get exponentially higher and the graphical improvement get less. So devs and publishers are shooting themselves in the feet many times striving for always being better. I would much prefer a good art style which stands the test of time, like Wind Waker, out Mario 64.
I really dislike this. But DLC pricing is not set by the Developer., it's the publisher so blame 2K Games.
