GFG Snatcher update...
How about we draw the line at "games that did it well and influenced the industry" vs. "games that just did it"?
We can play tit-for-tat over who did what first. It doesn't take away that Resident Evil 4 is the game that did the over-the-shoulder style chase cam well. So well, that the mainstream industry immediately studied and copied it.
We can talk about the first fighting game concepts that pre-date Street Fighter II, but guess wha...
We're seriously going to compare the sloppy camera system of Head Hunter and Fade to Black with the camera of Resident Evil 4?
Being the first to do something doesn't mean you were the one to do it right or well.
This is the medium growing up. Playing soldier and pew-pew'ing at each other is fun, but it's good to see games that toss aside the hero-fantasy-facade every once in a while and examines how these conflicts, in real life, affect us.
Someone needs to create a "What BAR?" guide for this game.
I never would've connected Yojimbo/A Fistful of Dollars with LOTR.
If I was a pie chart baker, a budget cruncher, or an analytics snake oil salesman I'd be breathing a sigh of relief that they haven't dropped. It's a sign that big sales and marketing budgets, which include these types of jobs, can provide stable success (and stable employment).
Creatively it's bleh. Who, outside of suit-land, really wants the old big publishing system dominating again? Keep this industry wild and shaken.
I was in college and playing a ton of games in 2004, but it never sank in just how many influential titles hit that year. No wonder I didn't have time to study.
This looks cool as hell...love the GameBoy art direction and how the gameplay seems to skate just shy of the bullet-hell line.
Only an hour long? I think I am going to wait for the substance...subsistence?...sub stitution?...subterfuge?...rele ase.
Incredible!
Dr Zomboss seems to have cured hair loss.
For real! It should be a default option in most grind intensive RPG's. :P
Dreamcast is one of the few consoles I adopted on launch. In fact, pre-launch. My girlfriend (now wife) helped me import a Dreamcast unit during its Japanese launch. Buying day 1 console hardware is definitely a gamble and I hit the jackpot on that one. :)
"Transformers movie met all requirements for being a movie. Presented audience with moving pictures. Was projected on wall. Nevermind that I fell asleep. I must've needed a nap. I digress. 10 out of 10"
"Game turned on. 10 out of 10"
Why does every piece of criticism in video games have to come from the same types of critics? There are plenty of GT6 reviews on the Internet from the same pool of writers that all have the same narrow "I'm a driving sims guy" perspective.
There's nothing wrong with breaking that tradition every once in a while and getting a different point of view on things. There is something seriously broken about our expectations if the Metacritic rating is too sacred to...
Thousands of people will be late to work, because they had to wait for a valuable 4-block long piece to show up to complete the time. Then their morning shower took 30 minutes because they were trying to soap up with a slippery 360 controller.
I'm definitely a skeptic when it comes to the idea of wireless ever being as lag free as a direct wired connection (even then, some inferior wired input devices lag).
I also think the non-hardcore consumers do notice input lag, but they miss diagnose the symptoms for something else. I believe a lot of people experience the lag and think that it is their fault. That they are just not activating their inputs quick enough. "I'm getting older and apparently my reacti...
This already sold out? I've barely saved up for the damned thing! Everyone needs to slow the hell down.
