It's because Nintendo knows that the majority of Americans (especially Gamers, sadly) are VERY insecure with their sexuality and still quite homophobic. This would explain why Inafune had to change Azure Striker Gun Volt's Character design for the US Release.
This.. Again. I thought people stopped being such bigot douche bags after the Mass Effect Controversy, which honestly feels like it was a decade ago. No one cares about this Country's outdated "Puritan Morales & Values". Let them make the game they want to make, the people complaining should take up a Less gay hobby, like knitting.
~I would recommend Wonderful 101 personally.
"Iraq has been on the hunt for years for weapons of mass destruction for a long time." Um, when was that part of the article written because that was entirely bogus and the Bush Administration willfully lied about it to get their war in Iraq. That Polybius/MK Ultra experiment and the Mario Galaxy 2 Story are interesting however.
-No one's paying us a dime. I was simply stating my chief complaint for GZ. It did not feel like Metal Gear Solid, it felt like a dull military training simulator for Call of Duty loving Dude Bro's. And one my favorite Characters ever was voiced by some random American action star. This is Metal Gear Solid, known for its excellent Voice work. When you remove a key component and make a beloved Character sound like some random guy in any other cookie cutter action game it crushes the cu...
@Moujahed; Sutherland voicing Big Boss was terrible. It sounded like "Just some guy", or Jack Bauer, NOT Snake. There was very little camp or charm. It felt very empty and cold. I understand that GZ was just a tech demo, but it was very bland. No Codec calls? Why couldn't I knock on Walls or Call to the guards? Why couldn't I drop magazines? This is Metal Gear Solid, not some douche bag, dude bro Military Simulator.
Ground Zeroes really soured my optimism, bad voice acting, taking it self too serious and nixing certain game mechanics. If they carry that nonsense over to The Phantom Pain I will have to walk away from my most beloved series.
He's dropping Kiefer Sutherland? I really hope he does.
~Well I have nothing to play on my Xbox One currently, in fact I'm playing Deadlight on my 360 because it was free and there is nothing even worth mentioning releasing until Wolfenstein and that is still a month away.
I don't like how these people at Koji Pro are handling the concerns at all. They seem to be glossing over the biggest complaints like they're door to door salesman. First and foremost no one is happy with Sutherland voicing Snake. I see the petition I signed met its quota so that's good. I didn't mind Miller talking at all, at least he still had his original voice actor. We need codec calls brought back, that would cut down on having to hear the same dialogue over and over. I&...
Robert Englund is too old and everyone forever associates him with Freddy Krueger. Virtually anyone could play Skull Face with the right amount of special effects make-up. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is too old to play Liquid Snake, Liquid is a young teenager in MGS:V, Waldau is going to be 44 this year! And Kiefer Sutherland? Absolutely not. He was NOT convincing in Ground Zeroes at all and his voice is too recognizable as Jack Bauer. He doesn't even look like Big Boss. The other choices are q...
Totally agree, I would be cool with Richard Doyle who voiced Big Boss in MGS4. I don't know why or how people are okay with Kiefer Sutherland. Sutherland is just awkward and weird. He has no charm, just cold and sterile. His voice is forever imprinted on my brain as Jack Bauer in 24 and nothing he can do is going to change that. The voice acting in Ground Zero's was really lacking compared to other games. I was even disappointed with the NPC Soldiers.
The other disappointing thing was the guards had no personality. In all the other games they make dumb or charming comments. Sure, not very real life, but its a game. You could drop magazines or knock on walls and call to them. Ground Zeroes' Guards were stale and lifeless, clicking a flash light or maybe a grunt but that was it. That's also what I mean by charm. It felt like there was no camp at all, except for a few small instances. I understand that Hideo Kojima is aiming for a dar...
I just finished Ground Zeros (all missions) last night. I paused for a moment and sighed. The game was alright, but extremely disappointing. No Codec calls and really awkward voice acting and dialogue. It had ZERO charm. I sincerely hope Hideo Kojima uses Ground Zeroes as a lesson of what NOT to do for the Phantom Pain or such a beloved series in general. Get a better Voice actor for Big Boss such as Richard Doyle or David Hayter and bring back codec calls.
It's a fun game, but I find the voice acting awkward and uncomfortable with Kiefer Sutherland and not believable in other scenes like Kaz's meltdown at the end.
I wish North America was getting a Special Edition. I'm excited nonetheless, but I went ahead and ordered the Art of Wolfenstein (30$ on Amazon) as a "build your own special edition".
Great Review, I would have also made mention of the voice acting. Kaz's lines (although short) were bad. They should have chose someone less known to Western Audiences to voice Big Boss. Sutherland voicing Big Boss is awkward and gives me fears that the series is going to try to inject to much action and screaming and yelling into such great stealth games.
I agree, I'm still interested in this as well. P.S. The 360 is Region Locked, Xbox One is not.
Really? Who the f*** is Gamekyo? It sounds like a character from Game of Thrones. You can hardly read that review from the terrible translation. I'll wait for something a little more sound, i.e. Tuesday when I play it myself.
Oh you're so wrong I don't even know how to address this. You think Nintendo had no desire to bring this to the US? Wrong. They know it will sell that's why they're localizing it. Why couldn't they just leave said "bug" in the game? They knew Americans couldn't handle it otherwise they would have left it alone and not made any fuss. Same story with Azure being released on the 3DS in the US. Hell, we couldn't even get Binding of Issac on the 3DS because th...
